A NEW SPECIES OF SZECHUANOSAURUS FROM THE MIDDLE JURASSIC OF DASHANPU, ZIGONG, SICHUAN

四川自贡大山铺中侏罗世肉食龙一新种

Abstract: A rather complete dinosaur skeleton was discovered from the Dashanpu Quarry in 1984. The new material contains 10 cervical vertebrae, 13 dorsals, 5 sacra Is and 25 caudals, together with a whole set of left forelimb, right scapular and pelvic girdle, this individual is considered as a new species of Szechuanosaurus, S. zigongensi; and is described here in this paper. Diagnosis of S. zigongensis A medium sized megalosaur, about 6 m in length; 10 cervicals, the last two planocoelous, with ventral keel; 13 dorsals, 5 coalesced sacrals. Distal caudals with elongate prezygapophyses. Deltopectoral crest of humerus well developed; length ratio of radius to humerus is 56%. Meta carpal IV short and light. Ilium especially low; pubis with foot-like distal end. Distal end of Ischium expanded.
